Irrespective whether you are considering applying for our degree programme in medicine at our faculty as a prospective student or would like to spend just a short period of your medical studies as a visiting student (non-degree) at our faculty, on this page you will find all necessary information about the application process for studying medicine at our university as a non-EU citizen as well as our non-degree visiting student programmes (such as Erasmus+ exchange programme).

Medical Studies at the HHU

If you have acquired your university entrance qualification in a non-European country, please apply directly to the Student and Examination Administration of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

Before applying, you should check whether your school report can be recognized: anabin.kmk.org.

You may have to attend a "Studienkolleg" before you can be admitted to a study program in Germany.

If you can start studying in Germany directly, you can find all information about the required language skills and other prerequisites as well as application forms for download on the website of the Student and Examination Administration.

Meditorium

For international students of human medicine and dentistry in their first three years of study, we offer student-led specialist tutorials as part of the "Meditorium". The aim of the tutorials is to promote individual subject, language and personal skills.

Erasmus+ Study

Students of our Erasmus+ partner universities have the possibility to spend one or two semesters studying with us at the Heinrich Heine University within the framework of the European educational programme “Erasmus+ Study”.

Erasmus+ Traineeship

Clinical internships at Heinrich Heine University or, to be more precise, at University Hospital Düsseldorf can be financially supported within the European scholarship programme “Erasmus+ Traineeship”.

Non-Erasmus+

It is also possible for non-Erasmus+ students to come to Düsseldorf for a short non-degree stay. We offer clinical internships to students of our partner universities outside Europe. You are also welcome to organise a clinical internship on your own.
