Patient Internship 2

Link to the course in HIS-LSF

In the summer semester, 4th semester students complete PP2.

Prerequisite for this is the successful participation in the patient internship PP1 as well as the regular participation in the clinical clerkship courses in the subject blocks 2 to 6 (i.e. you have gained admission to the final block examinations of the subject blocks 2 to 6). In order to be able to take part in the course in HIS-LSF, both certificates must be stored in the student portal.

If the certificates are not stored in the portal, please contact the Institute of General Medicine directly.

In order to make a valid registration, it is also necessary that you are properly registered for the new semester with the university administration at the time of registration, i.e. you have transferred the semester fee on time.

Each small group of the 4th semester is assigned a fixed period within the semester for participation in PP2. Therefore, please note that you can only take a practice in the period assigned to your small group! (Example: You are in small group 1. You choose a practice in HIS-LSF in the course "Phase 2: PP2 - Term A (small groups 1,2,3)"). Please refer to the appropriate class schedules for PP2 assignment to semester weeks.

The assignment of the patient practicum PP2 is divided into 2 phases:

Enrollment deadline: 28.02.-01.03.2023

Only students who wish to complete PP2 in the same practice as PP1 will enroll in Phase 1. This requires that the practice from PP1 also offers a placement for PP2 in the period assigned to you.

Important: After the deadline for phase 1, ifam will check whether you have already completed PP1 in the selected practice. If not, your registration will be cancelled after the deadline! In this case, you will have to participate again in Phase 2 of PP2 enrollment. You will not be informed separately about the cancellation.

Occupancy is on a first-come, first-served basis: if a practice is already occupied, you will not be able to select it.

At the end of your booking process, please check under "My events" whether your booking was successful.

Enrollment deadline: 06.03.-07.03.2023

In Phase 2, all students who were unable to take a practicum in Phase 1 or were deregistered in Phase 1 due to an invalid enrollment may take a practicum. Please note that you can only take a practicum during the period assigned to your small group.

Assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis: if a practice is already assigned, you will not be able to select it.

At the end of your booking process, please check under "My events" whether your booking was successful.

Students with Special Circumstances

Students in special life situations (pregnant women and students with children, students with dependents in need of care, seriously/chronically ill or students with disabilities) who need support in planning their patient internship 2 are asked to register (send an e-mail) with the online booking medicine by 27 February 2023 (12 noon). In the email, please indicate the time period (date) you have been assigned for the clerkship according to your schedule and list three practices (available during your assigned date) where you would prefer to complete your clerkship. To simplify the process, please also attach to the mail all necessary proof (e.g. birth certificate or a certificate from the supervising physician). For an overview of the teaching practices available for selection in your appointment, please refer to the respective event in HIS-LSF.
